Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an intensive eight-week course designed to transform your relationship with stress, improve your health, and increase enjoyment of life.

It is a way to take charge of the direction and quality of our lives, including our relationships within the family, our relationship to work and to the larger world and planet, and most fundamentally, our relationship with ourselves as a person.” ~ Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D.

Course Format

The MBSR program consists of eight weekly classes and one all-day class (held on a Saturday). Classes include: - Individual interview with each class participant – Mindfulness meditation practices

- Gentle stretching and simple yoga – Interactive exercises to elicit skills and qualities

of mindfulness – Readings, logs, and CD recordings to support

each aspect of the participantʼs home practice

When

The classes will be 2 1/2 hours long and will meet on Tuesdays from 6-8:30 pm, with the first class being on September 20, 2011, and the last being on November 8, 2011. The all- day class/retreat will take place between classes 6 and 7.

Costs

The fee for this eight-week MBSR course is $450 ($400, if paid in full by September 13, 2011). Credit cards accepted for an additional fee. It is our intention to keep the program accessible to anyone who could benefit. Flexible payment plans can be arranged, and discounts are available according to need.

Kimberly LaRue, Mindfulness Coach, is a compassionate multi-faceted healer, teacher and speaker who applies the skills acquired over 30 years to facilitate personal healing and wholeness. Her passion is to introduce others to the innate wisdom of the body by fostering awareness; clearing embedded physical, energetic and mental patterns and imparting techniques and practices that expand mind/body integration. The primary modalities of Kimberlyʼs work are MBSR, Yoga, CranioSacral (CST) and Massage Therapy in conjunction with with Hypnotherapy and Guided Visualization.

Having completed intensive professional instruction in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with senior faculty at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, including the Practicum in MBSR, and MBSR in Mind-Body Medicine with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, Kimberly is a daily practitioner of mindfulness meditation and yoga. She has experienced the benefits of mindfulness in her own life, and witnessed remarkable transformations in her MBSR graduates.

Here is Christine Carpenter’s perspective of the conference after taking my MBSR Yoga class.
This is very touching how this conference affects people.

On Channel 5, Kimberly tells us what Yoga Day is all about – coming together, union. Eric is doing Active Isolated Stretching on Therese Abair in the ShadeTree Yoga and Wellness Tent.


Wow!  That was so exciting to be interactive with all you listeners and viewers tonight on Spirit Jump’s live podcast (see wafs.tv on Tuesday eves from 7-9p.m.).  Last time I checked, we drew 890 visitors (not bad for our first visit).

The subject:  Healing with CranioSacral Therapy.  We opened the ‘cast explaining what CranioSacral Therapy is and how it works.  I mentioned the work I do with the Sari Asher Center for Integrative Cancer Care.  Then, Meaghan talked about her personal experience with me in her first CST session and how it helped her to feel lighter and an overall sense of well-being.  Questions were coming in from the chatroom, like “is it good for pre-surgery,” and “cluster headaches,” and “vertigo.”  Then, we took questions from callers, going over things like how to find the right CranioSacral Therapist for you, and also my three-step meditation to assist one caller with their anxiety.
I appreciate Meaghan for inviting me to come on the show, so it can help me educate others in how to heal and enrich the lives of those who suffer from cancer and other dis-eases.  You know, uneasiness creates dis-easiness.  Please stay well tuned because soon Shade Tree Yoga and Wellness has some exciting seeds to plant.
